Feature act: THE JACKSON COMBO BLUES

THE JACKSON COMBO BLUES have been impressing audiences for over 12 years with their swingin’ cool Hammond-based Blues and infectious New Orleans beats. THe band is fronted by PETER JACKSON on vocals and congas, with GARY JONES on Hammond organ, JEFF MEAD on sax and vocals and NICK MIERISCH on drums.

Performing widely over the years at music venues, major events and festivals, and a returning popular act at the MBAS House of Blues, The Jackson Combo Blues are established regulars at Tom Katz Music Club and The Moldy Fig with their themed ‘Goin’ Down To New Orleans’ performances. Travelling the musical road south from Memphis to New Orleans, they pick up the songs of Dr John, BB King, Joe Williams, The Meters, The Neville Brothers, Sonny Landreth, Professor Longhair, Delbert McClinton, Taj Mahal and many more. Festival appearances include Marysville Jazz and Blues, Bendigo Blues and Roots, Devonport Jazz, Mordi Fest, Eltham Jazz and Blues, Stonnington Jazz, Castlemaine Jazz, Mornington Winter Jazz and Frankston Waterfront.

In 2022 the band further developed their ‘Going Down To New Orleans Show’ into an engaging and highly entertaining journey in song and story form, with sell-out shows at Arcobar and Martha Salt. Taking the audience through the lives and music that has made ‘The Big Easy’ so important to the world of modern music, the show includes a second line parade of authentic New Orleans instruments that the audience join and become part of. As an audience member commented, “ It’s brilliant! I felt like I was there in New Orleans!”.
