Who Are the MBAS?

The Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society (MBAS) was formed in 1990 and has been affiliated with The Blues Foundation in Memphis USA for over 10 years.

We are a not-for-profit organization which has a weekly Online Update, our own functions and weekly feature artists and jam nights.

Membership entitles you to discounts at a variety of co-operating businesses, MBAS functions and affiliated club functions. More importantly, membership supports live Blues music.

MBAS activities include Tuesday Night Feature Artist and jam night, Youth In Blues, Blues Performer of the Year, Victorian Tasmanian Blues Music Awards and other fund raising events throughout the year.

History of the MBAS

The MBAS was formed in 1990 by a group of music lovers who gathered each week at the Station Hotel in Prahran to hear Dutch Tilders and the Blues Club. Dutch invited guest artists to perform with him. It was decided by the artists and music enthusiasts that what was required was a Society or Club that would support the current and developing blues artists of Melbourne. Thus the journey started for the Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society.

Blues On The Move

The MBAS continues to grow and it's influence is acknowledged by the large family of Blues artists that have succeeded both nationally and internationally and the ones that have just started their journey.
