Feature act: CONQUEROR ROOT

CONQUEROR ROOT blues band is named after "High John the Conqueror Root" – the famous earthy magical soul of a Mojo hand, referenced in many classic blues songs. And so, the band is a fiery gumbo of gritty blues, funky grooves, hypnotic boogie and old school rock ’n’ roll.

Every show starts with the flip of a coin to see who goes in to bat first on lead guitar and vocals: SAMMY OWEN or CAM WALTER. Sammy brings his polished guitar dexterity and natural humour to his funky urban style. Cam brings dirty fuzz and swagger to his blues and boogie repertoire. As the set unfolds, every song throws down a challenge, each one harder to follow than the last. Expect stage antics and banter. Expect back to back guitar solos, trading licks and extended improvised journeys…

Driving the band is the killer rhythm section of GRANT CUMMERFORD on bass and DAVE KLEYNJANS on drums delivering in-the-pocket shuffle, on-point funk, driving rock, and deep gut bucket blues feel. Grant and Dave really dig in with total presence in the moment, serving every song to effortlessly connect with the audience who have no choice but to move to the groove of the Root. LET’S PARTY!!!
