Feature act: THE HORNETS
THE HORNETS have been a mainstay of Melbourne and Australia’s blues and roots scene for two and a half decades. They feature some of the country’s best known and respected blues and roots musicians including: singer/songwriter, guitarist and author Craig Horne, ARIA Hall of Fame guitarist Jeff Burstin (Jo Jo Zep, Black Sorrows) and ARIA Award winning keyboardist Bruce Haymes (Archie Roach, Paul Kelly).
The Hornets have released 8 LP’s, incorporating everything from blues, to country, folk and even a few Bob Dylan covers. They have received rave reviews from the media with several of their albums named in the top ten releases for their respective years. Over the years the band has played most of the major music festivals in the country and gained a regular following of devoted fans as a result of thousands of live performances. Consequently, The Age named The Hornets “The best blues band in Melbourne”, and the Herald Sun said the band “demanded attention”.
