Feature act: JOHN WILLIAMS BLUES BAND with Special Guest MIKE RUDD

JOHN WILLIAMS is an innovative master in electric Blues, featuring jaw-dropping guitar licks and scorching slide guitar riffs. John has enjoyed a long illustrious career, which has seen him tour with Tom Jones, Eric Burdon, The Animals, Roy Orbison, The Easybeats, The Yardbirds and Jimmy Page.

Recipient of a 2015 MBAS VICTAS Blues Music Award for Best Debut Blues Album, this NZ-born performer was also inducted into the NZ Music Hall of Fame in 2020. John's most recent band album, '470 Northern Highway Blues' was finalist in the 2023 VICTAS Awards. As both a soloist and band performer, John most recently forms as a powerhouse guitar-driven Blues trio, currently featuring BOB SHANNON on bass and ROBERT B. DILLON on drums.

Bassist Bob Shannon got hooked on Blues at 14 after learning how to play ‘Stepping out’ in a hot garage in East Keilor. For many years he has played  in Blues, Soul, Funk, Rock and tribute bands, and backed acoustic artists. He loves to play and especially loves to play Blues Rock. Robert B. Dillon (represented the MBAS twice in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis TN) remains one of the best drummers in the business, playing and touring in lineups with local music greats, and has a unique style and playing that is a major part of the driving groove. Together with John they present an act of world-class musicians that is exciting to see and hear live.

The JOHN WILLIAMS BLUES BAND appears at MBAS with very special guest MIKE RUDD on Blues harp to add some extra, and unmissable, local legend spark to the night.
