Feature act: PAUL BUCHANAN'S VOODOO PREACHERS

PAUL BUCHANAN'S VOODOO PREACHERS were formed between successive Victorian lockdowns through 2020. Developing their slick dirty electric blues, straight from the swampy plains of Gippsland, they have gone on to establish themselves as a popular live act, with two top albums under their belt. Featuring members of Amnesia Blues Band, The Blues Lizards and The Strzelecki Stringbusters, The Voodoo Preachers bring together Paul Buchanan on vocals, Ning Hopkins and Marc Leyshan on guitars, John Werner on bass and Stuart Anderson on drums.

Their debut album, Testimony, went straight to #3 on the Australian Blues and Roots Airplay Chart. In 2021, the band recorded their live set at the Moechella festival, released as Live at Moechella 2021. In the same year the band were shortlisted for Music Victoria’s Best Blues Band award. In January 2023, the band released Down Sellings Lane, their second studio album. Down Sellings Lane delivers more of The Voodoo Preachers brand of brass-knuckled blues with a couple of exotic detours, and has also reached #3 on the ABARAC charts. 

Buchanan’s manifesto has always been grunt over gloss and The Voodoo Preachers are clearly along for the ride.
