Feature act: JAN PRESTON DUO (NSW)
JAN PRESTON is a knockout boogie pianist with a rich resonant voice who has captured audiences around the world with her originality and energy. Jan has created her own boogie/blues style, not only through her piano playing but also her singing and songwriting. Jan will be performing at MBAS with her longtime collaborator-partner-in-crime, MIKE PULLMAN on percussion.
Winner of 5 prestigious music awards, Jan has sold out concerts throughout Australia, NZ, and Europe, writes music for film and TV, and performs side by side with the greatest contemporary boogie piano players in the world today. She has also opened shows for Robert Cray and Bo Diddley (on his final tour of Australia), and shared the stage with local Blues greats such as Dutch Tilders, Chris Wilson, Phil Manning and Nick Charles.
Jan’s early career began in her native NZ with a No 1 rock hit in 1980, after which she moved to Sydney. She has composed music for many ABC TV programs including the theme to Australian Story and appeared on Spicks and Specks.Her piano instrumental Trout Blues has become the theme music to BBC Radio London’s evening program.
