BLUE SUNDAY BLUES BAND is fronted by multi award-winning blues artist Marco Goldsmith. Hailing from Port Fairy, Marco built up his reputation playing solo and in various bands throughout the Western district of Victoria. After moving to Warrnambool, he formed the highly regarded award winning band Blue Heat, who released several albums, and as a strong festival favourite, eventually supported the legendary B.B.King.
Marco soon put out a solo album and moved to Geelong, forming the Marco Goldsmith Band, whose debut album won a VicTas Blues Award that year, and supported Status Quo for their Australian tour. Good times unfortunately sometimes turn dark, and Marco was cruelly diagnosed with cancer of the vocal chords during this time, which put him out of action with required radiation therapy and surgery.
Around the same time, bass player Ron Hilla (ex Turning Blue, Matt Corcoran Band) was putting together Blue Sunday and approached Marco to play guitar in the lineup, which included another fine vocalist/guitarist Craig Creswell (ex Blue Jam) and Sandy Oro on drums (ex Chantoozies, Giants, Matt Corcoran Band). Fotunately Marco's voice eventually recovered, giving the band another fine lead vocal in the Blue Sunday lineup, together forming a rocking, solid powerhouse of blues rhythm. Blue Sunday play a mixture of originals, Aussie blues, American and English blues rock, and look forward to an album recording and release in the near future.
